This is an amazing Beryl variety Aquamarine cluster from the Erongo Mountains in Namibia, South Africa. It is extremely rare. In fact, I believe this particular find was the smallest out of all Beryl finds world-wide. Only a handful of specimens were recovered. I know of 10 in existence. Among those few rare specimens is the largest one in the world, which I do have a photograph of if you wish to see it. That piece is in a private collection and is probably worth hundreds of thousands $$$. There is an obvious and uncanny resemblance to the Afghanistan variety of Alkali Rich beryl known as Rosterite, aka Vorobyevite. This specimen was discovered in 2006, and at the time Alkali beryl hadn't been knowingly discovered anywhere in the world. This specimen was classified as Aquamarine, however after speaking with Gail Spann she has informed me that her specimen and others like mine were analyzed and confirmed to have Alkali. This specimen weighs 13.718 grams / 68.59 carats and measures 1.5 inches across. The purchase of this listing includes the original receipt from 2006, along with all other providence paperwork and labels that pertain to this Historical specimen's origin and sale. "Scott Werschky of Miner's Lunchbox (minerslunchbox.com) picked up some small miniature-size specimens manifesting yet another distinct style of aquamarine from Erongo, and a few of these are available on his website. Very sharp, lustrous, short-prismatic to tabular beryl crystals to about 1.5 cm across form loose clusters or attach singly to bits of white (orthoclase?) matrix. The crystals are translucent to transparent and show strong color-zoning parallel to the big c face, with blue central zones and very pale blue-white zones sandwiching them. The crisp little groups of tabular, color-zoned crystals do not resemble any beryl specimens that I have seen before from anywhere else—not even from Erongo."..end quote. Contact me with questions.
